Each download consists of one zip file. There is no install program as
such. However, setting up
CWTE
should be fairly easy. Listed below is a brief overview for each
platform.
When a zip file is unzipped, you should see one new directory in your
workspace where the name is based on the package type that was
downloaded. Within the download directory, there will be instructions
for installing and usage of
CWTE.
CWTE
should be able to work on most variations of the MS-Windows platforms that
are able to run 32 bit programs. The download zip file will contain one top
directory with subdirectories containing an executable file, help files,
example profile files, and instructions.

CWTE
should be able to work on most any Linux/Unix type platform. Further,
CWTE
was designed to work under X−Windows, thus
requiring that a version of X11 be installed on the
system. Also, you will need to select your own mono spaced
font when configuring the editor. The download zip file will
contain one top directory with subdirectories containing all the needed
source code, help files, example profile files, and instructions to
easily build an executable program for your platform.

It was decided not to provide an
EXECUTABLE or
FONT file for any given Unix
like platform. The main issue being the varying configuration
requirements across the various systems. Where some have
different hardware processors, some have a different OS types,
some have differing Makefile directives, plus other possible
issues. Instead, you are ask to personally compile the code
for your particular system, update the
'.Xdefaults' file, and select your choice of
a 'Fixed Space' font.

This version of
CWTE
is a simple 32 bit editor that uses the DOS command line window for its
display. Thus it does not pop up a separate window and lacks many of
the Windows/Unix features. It should only be considered for use
in rare cases (such as for boot disks, etc) or for use on old 32 bit
version of the IBM/PC. The download zip file will contain one top directory with
subdirectories containing an executable file, help files, example
profile files, and instructions.
